Saturday, June 28 saw another overflow of participants and the public as all enjoyed the 11th annual Mopar Magic Car Show in Cornwall, Ontario. Bright skies and warm winds off the St. LawrenceRiver, enticed just under 250 participants to display their Mopars and a crowd of well over 2000 enthusiasts, to wander among the cars throughout the day. The Mopar Special Events Caravan from Windsor/Detroit returned with a huge display van full of vehicles, engines, and accessories. This imposing big rig is always an attraction on it's own and photographer's dream as a backdrop for car photos.
Mopar Magic is sponsored by Notman Chrysler Dodge Jeep and is run as a fundraiser for the local Girl Guides. The Guides offered a delicious BBQ and bake sales table, and held a 50/50 draw at day's end. Proceeds will allow six Girl Guides to attend a camp in Europe later this summer.
Several New York State Mopars joined their counterparts from across Quebec and Ontario for the day's event. Following an extensive ballot count, 30 People's Choice trophies were presented along with several special awards. Jessica Brisebois represented The Mopar Marketing dept. and was put to work selecting Jessica's Pick. Jessica chose Barry and Jaclyn Kuehl's 1968 Dodge Charger as her favourite car and gave a lengthy explanation for her selection. The Kuehl's brought their immaculate Charger to the show from Ottawa.
The Best Club Participation Award went to the Club Challenger du Quebec. This enthusiastic club brought 15 Challengers of every colour and description, and edged out last year's award winners from the Golden Gears in Iroquois.  This ear's Long Distance Award went to Doug Renault who brought his classic white 1964 Dodge Polara convertible from Barrie. Doug is a member of the Barrie Thunder Classics Car Club.
Louise Campbell, long-time chief organizer of Mopar Magic chose Claude Bourgeois' beautiful 1971 Plymouth Cuda convertible, as winner of Lou's Pick. Louise is a lady of few words but suffice to say Claude's Cuda is an attention getter as he drives around Casselman.
Once again, Mother Nature provided a sunny, warm day to display some of Mother Mopar's finest, as participants and enthusiasts alike, enjoyed Cornwall's beautiful Lamoureux Riverfront Park, and Mopar Magic 2014.(as published in Old Autos)
